Oct. 10, 1965 - Australia's millionth migrant leaves for their new home. Mr. and Mrs. Porritt at Tilbury. Included in the passengers aboard the S.S. Oransay leaving Tilbury today for Australia - was Mrs. Dennis Porritt (formerly Miss Barbara Wood ) of Redcar, Yorkshire, and her husband. The couple were married last month. Mrs. Porritt was seen off from Tilbury by the Australian high commissioner Sir Thomas White and Lady White. Mrs. Porritt is Australia's millionth post war migrant.
