Oct. 21, 1968 - The Harding Family Are Off To Australia And Set Up An Emigration Record: The largest family to emigrate from Britain left yesterday for Australia Mr. and Mrs. Peter Harding and their 13 Children will live in a five-bedroom bungalow outside Adelaide which has been offered to them by an Australian Businessman and woman, both of whom want to remain anonymous. Mr. Harding 40-year-old lorry driver, and his wife Sylvia, 36, of Raleigh Crescent, Stevenage, Herts, planned to go to Australia three years ago but emigrant hostels there cater only for families with up to six children. For the first few months will live rent-free.
