Apr. 17 What is said to be the biggest owl in the world : can presently be seen at the Harburger Mountains near Hamburg. It was called into being by the well-known sculptor Erich Gerer from Austria (Picture). Last year he was on a tour through Scandinavia and his car broke down. Since he had not enough just stayed where he was - and made this huge bird within four weeks. It is made of wood, 4.30 mtrs tall and weighs 3.5 tons. Meanwhile Erich Gerer has created other wooden animals. Recently he has been working on a 6 mtrs tall wooden eagle, which had been ordered by the bird-zoo Walsrode
