Jun 16, 1970; Tubingen, Germany; On July 8th, Professor Dr. ERNST BLOCH is celebrating his 85th birhday. The philosopher now teaching in Tubingen left the University of Leizig in 1961 because of political pressure of the East German regime. In 1967 he was awarded the Price for peace of the German book ttrade. In his publications Mr. Bloch is examining conditions and chances of a humanitarian socialism, the most important of which is called Das Prinzip Hoffnung (The Principle of Hope)
