Jun. 06, 1956 - E.S.B. Wins The Grand National: The Grand National was won at Aintree today by E.S.B. ridden by D.V. Dick, with Gentle Moya, (G. Milburn) 2nd, and Royal (T. Taaffe) 3rd. The race was watched buy the Queen, The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. The Queen Mother's horse, Devonn Loch (R. Francis), was leading 50 yards from the winning post when it slipped.
