Oct. 10, 1957 - Woman Atom Spy Allowed To Stay in this Country: Mrs. Christine Milde, 35, a Polish woman who spied on a Communist atom-ore mine, was yesterday granted permission to stay in this country with her 12-year old daughter. In July 1051, Mrs. Milde, who used to keep a ski-lodge in Lower Silesia, was asked by three men together intelligence about uranium manes near her home at Karpacs. Her husband was in Warsaw. She found out about quantities of uranium being mined, transport methods, and mine development projects, and passe on the information to one of three men who were working for a Western Intelligence agency in Salzburg, Austria, In August when walking in Karpace main street with her daughter Yvonne, they were stopped by two men in a ca and taken to police H.Q. and later transferred to secret police H.Q. at Wreclawa, where she was questioned day and night for seven days. Yvonne was taken from her after three days to go to an orphanage. The officers demanded that Mrs Milds sign a confession and Yvonne was brought back to the secret police H.Q. and she was told she would not see her again. She started crying, and her mother thought she is danger, and so signed confessions. She was sentenced to 12 years, of which she served five and a half, She was released under the aesty granted by Mr. Gomulka last year. Her Husband died of a heart attack during her captivity. She was allowed to come to Brittan by the Goumukls regime to see her mother, who was dangerously ill.
