May 05, 1970 - Portland spies Freed.: Portland spies Harry Houghton and Ethel Gee were freed from prison yesterday on parole after serving nine years of the 15 years sentence imposed at the Old Bailey in March 1961, for their part in the Russian spy ring which obtained secrets from the Underwater Weapons Establishment at Portland, Dorset, Houghton was smuggled out of Maidstone jail early yesterday morning.
