Everett Martin, American journalist, Wall Street Journal

Feb. 29 Everett Martin, South American correspondent of the Wall Street Journal; Mr. Martin has been reporting international affairs since 1964 and has covered South America for the Wall Street Journal for the past 12 years. He was born in River Forest, IIIinois, and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in journalism in 1949. His first job was with the City Weros Bureau in Chicago, his second with Elkhard Zruth, and his third was selling insurance. But he returned to journalism for good in 1953, joining the Christian Science Monitor as a copy boy and quickly becoming assistant New England news editor and then chief of the Detroit bureau. his interest in business and labor reporting led him to New York and a job with the Wall Street Journal covering a host of industries. After 2 years, he went on to Ziuine Magazine as a business writer
