Evonne Goolagong Cawley hurt in tennis match, Wimbledon

Jul. 07, 1978 - Evonne Goolagong Cawley out Wimbledon: During her semi-final in the Ladies Singles yesterday Evonne Cawley of Australia was going for a ball during the final set against Martina Navratilova, when she suddenly screamed out in pain probably after tearing a calf muscle. In the last two games of the match she was limping heavily. Photo shows the moment when Mrs. Cawley went out of the Wimbledon championships as she clutches her injured leg. Miss Navratilova went on to win 2-6 6-4 6-4, and plays Miss Evert in the final on Friday
