Jun. 06, 1968 - rebel French General is set free from jail he is granted a pardon by President De Gaulle: President De Gaulle today granted a pardon to ex-general Raoual Salan, the last of the four generals still in prison for leading a military revolt against the President;s Algerian policy. Salan left the jail at Tulle, central France, where he had been for the last six years, accompanied by his daughter, 18 year-old Monique.
