Excavation of terrace, Tata Castle, Hungary

Aug. 08, 1969 - Restoration Of Castle Of Tata, Western Hungary In Finishing Stage: The Castle of Tata in Western Hungary on Tata Lake was originally built by King Sigismund who reigned from 1387 to 1437 and was later converted into a Renaissance palace by King Mathias in the second half of the 15th century. During the transformation Mathias had a terrace built in the direction of the lake. The Excavation of this terrace is now in progress. Although it was covered with earth in the 18th century archeologists have a relatively easy task as they are able to follow a ground plan of the building made in the 16th century.
