Carnival time in the British West Indies is a gay time - may pole dancer for the children old time English style dances mixed with the native versions. Girl dancers can be seen on the golden sanda performing their own dances - a mixture of European and African styles. The picturesque vendors of coconut milk, which they carry on their heads in converted oil drums, do a roaring trade - and when the milk is laced with local rum - then things really do begin to hum - happily.
