Dec. 12, 1953 - French explorer Michel Perrin goes on hunger strike at Lima: French explorer Michel Perrin photo graphed in Lima (Peru) after he went on hunger strike, Michel Perrin tried to explore the source of the Amazone earlier this year. He was accompanied by a Peruvian girl student Teresa Gutierrez who lost her life in the expedition. When Perrin returned to Lima the girl's father accused him with being responsible for the girl's death, now Perrin is not permitted to leave the country before his innocence. He went on hunger strike as a protest against unjustified coercion
