Feb. 29 Soviet Expedition To The North Pole High Latitude Investigations: Scientific workers and technical personnel of the Soviet Union have just carried out a high latitude expedition - with two research stations North Pole 3 and North Pole 4'. The workers at these stations are equipped with unique comfortable tents - sledge mounted houses which can be easily moved from place to place. Each station has a Canteen, a club and a bath house besides the necessary technical equipment. The stations conduct deep sea investigations taking samples of water to determine action of the current at various depths. The station is also provided with helicopters for easy scientific observation and regular trips to nearby ice floss. The stations are also regularly visited by aircraft bringing letters - parcels - newspapers films and food. Photo shows I.
