Jan. 01, 1964 - A New Trip For Commander Cousteau's Laboratory Buoy: The Laboratory buoy of Commandant Cousteau sails for Corsica. It will be carried by the experimental ship Calypso Midway through France and the Island of Corsica. This buoy is made up of a head standing 30 feet above the waters and including a laboratory, scientific material, room for a 4 people. Over it as a platform upon which and helicopter can land. The head is only the upper part of a vertical Tube of 75 yards which sinks into water at a 60 yard level.
