May 05, 1968 - He hopes to make single handed crossing of Atlantic in Submarine Shaped steel cylinder. 52 year old Douglas Price, of Temple Cloud, Somerset, with is home made submarine shaped cylinder, Gay Highlander, 26ft. long, during trials at Torbay, Devon. The boat, which has passed the Beard of Trade inspection, is powered by a converted lorry engine, and is registered at 1, 32 tons. Mr. Price hopes to make an Atlantic single handed crossing by the southern route in June in 40 days
