Jun. 06, 1969 - Heroes Of The British Trans-Artic Expedition Arrive Back At Portsmouth: The Royal Navy's ice patrol ship, H.M.S. Endurance, with the British trans-Artic expedition on board returned to Portsmouth today. The ship's two helicopters lifted the expedition, stores and dogs to Endurance near Spitsbergen last Wednesday at thed of their historic 3, 800-mile journey by land across the North Pole, having completed one of the most gruelling fests of human endurance.
