Fang Yi of China visits Helmut Schmidt, West Germany
Mar. 22 Official visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China in West Germany: At the invitation of the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology Mr. Fang Yi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Council of State of the People's Republic of China and head of the Committee of State for Science and Technics, paid a visit to the Federal Republic of Germany from 4 to 14 October 1978. Up to now he passes for the highest ranking guest from China. The first two days of his visit the Deputy Prime Minister conferred in Bonn with the Federal Minister for Research and Technology, Dr. Volker Hauff, the Federal Minister for Education and Science, Dr. Juergen Schmude, Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt as well as with Federal President Walter School. On October 9 an agreement on scientific and technological cooperation was signed by Mr. Fang Yi and the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hans Dietrich Genscher.
