Feb. 02, 1973 - Angry Villagers From Upshire Stage Farmland Demonstration At The House Of Parliament: Angry villagers from Upshire, an Essex hamlet threatened by a six-lane motorway, today staged a huge farmland demonstration - a cavalcade of farm vehicles to the House of Commons where they handed over a petition signed by more than 8, 000 people. Upshire, the Epping Forest village, is faced with destruction by the building of the M16 motorway.
