Fast patrol launch for Ceylon demonstrated on River Thames
Mar. 03, 1953 - Fast Patrol Launch For Ceylon (Sri Lanka): A 58 ft fast patrol launch which has been built for the Ceylon Customs Service by John I. Thornycroft and Co Ltd, was demonstrated on the River Thames today. The boat will be used on anti-smuggling duties and will operate principally among the islands off Ceylon. The boat is equipped with radar and radio telephone, searchlights and Loud Hailer. Photo shows: The new launch Sunga Marutham travelling at speed during today's demonstration on the Thames at Chelsea
