1968 - Policeman shot in siege. A policeman was shot in the back by a rifle bullet today, in a two-hour siege at a house in Woodlands Rise, Muswell Hill, North London. police went to the house after an underworld tip that they would find a woman who had escaped from Holloway jail. when they approached her room she looked the door, and t-en opened a large window of the room. Shots were fried at a plain clothes police constable outside in the street. The girl then appeared at the window with a.22 rifle, and a newspaper photographer, Mr. Stave Davis, was able to grab the gun, after asking the girl if he could take a photographer, Mr. Stave Davis, was able to grap the gun, after asking the girl if he could take a photograph of her.Photo Shows: The shot constable, P-O Thomas White, driver of ans division Q-car who was shot in the siege.
