Aug. 08, 1953 - Coaches Of The Royal Scot Derailed. Crash Near Glasgow. Photo shows The rear coach of the Royal Scot stretched across the line- after six of the train's fourteen coached had become derailed at Abington, 44 miles south of Glasgow - while travelling from Eustone to Glasgow. Warped track is thought to be the cause. Only 29 people were injured - most of them not seriously
