Jan. 07, 1953 - Gun-Fight Policemen Honoured Sgt. Fairfax Receives the George cross : The Policeman who were involved in the Croydon Gun Battle with Christopher Craig, the 16 year old gunman - and Derek Brantley - and which resulted in the death of P.C. Sidney Miles, were a last night honoured. The Dead man miles Posthumously was awarded the King's Police Modal. Frederick William Fairfax (Since promoted Sergeant) receives the George Cross, P.C.
