Jan. 07, 1953 - Gun-Fight Policemen Honoured Sgt. Fairfax Receives the George cross : The Policeman who were involved in the Croydon Gun Battle with Christopher Craig, the 16 year old gunman - and Derek Brantley - and which resulted in the death of P.C. Sidney Miles, were a last night honoured. The Dead man miles Posthumously was awarded the King's Police Modal. Frederick William Fairfax (Since promoted Sergeant) receives the George Cross, P.C. Norman Harrison receives the George Meda, Constable J.C. McDonald received the George Medal and Constable R.J.W. Jaggs receives the B.E.M. Photo shows Left to Right Det. Sgt.
