Jul. 07, 1957 - Metropolitan on-the-beat policemen train on lightweight motorcycles: A bout 450 officers of the Metropolitan Police are to receive training at the Hendon police driving school - on lightweight motor cycles for beat-duty. The men will wear ordinarily foo-duty uniform with specialty designed helmet They will not join the mobile police and will patrol at slow spead end will thus be able to cover a wider area when on-chi-beat.
