Aug. 08, 1964 - Policewoman Margaret Gets the George Medal.. She Snatched Child from Man on Rooftop.. It was learned yesterday that policewoman no. 232 - 26 year old Margaret Cleland had been awarded the George Medal for her bravery when one day last March she snatched a baby from the arms of a distraught father on a rooftop high above London - when the father threatened to jump from the roof with the child.. Margaret was to been seed with three policemen who had also been awarded for bravery at their job - two of them had won the B.E.M. for arresting a gunman and the third getting a gallantry award for attempting to rescue two children from a blazing house..
