Oct. 24, 1960 - Police Scooter Girls On Duty For First Time. New Highway Patrcl'.. Policewomen - who form the first of the Metropolitan Police Women's Highway Patrol - on scooters - were to be seen on during this morning for the first time at Kingston-on-Thames. They have been hand picked fro their new role - and have completed an intensive course at the Hendon Police driving school. Their duties will include anything from patrolling to catching criminals.
