FBI - Fire Department - Police
Jul. 07, 1964 - Gun-women Amongst The Skyscrapers New York is famous (or infamous) for its violence, and it may come as a surprise to some people that there are women police in the City. Only on ceremonial parades are these intrepid members of the female sex seen in their uniforms. Anonymous and armed with guns, handcuffs, whistles and the other ironmongery common plain clothes, watch for prostitutes and other female offenders. But the women police have full powers of arrest, and they can use a gun as well as any man. On the police Rifle range at Pelham Bay, with their Male counterparts they learn to defend themselves, to shoot if necessary in the many scuffles and attacks which ravage the City. Photo Shows:- Emphasis is put on finding cover, and while training the Apprentices use the simulated cover of a Pole
