Oct. 10, 1965 - LESLEY DOWNY'S BODY FOUND ON MOOR Ten-year old LESLEY DOWNEY, whose naked body was found buried on a bleak stretch or moorland at the weekend, may have been only one of a maniac killer victims, A senior police officer said last night: Within the next few days we expect to find more bodies. Everything points to this from the information we have Lesley's body was buried with her clothing in a shallow grave on Saddleworth Moor, near Greenfield, Yorkshire The grave was only 150 yards from the main road between Ashton-under-Lyne and Huddersfield, Police began searching six days ago after being told of a man's boast to a friend. This led police to believe that possible murder victims might be found buried on moorland near Woodhand, Cheshire. At the weekend, following new information, police switched their search to Saddleworth Moor, A police offloer saw a forearm bone sticking up through the peat soil on an escarpment above the Isle of Skye road, a few minutes later, Lesley's body was found.
