Aug. 08, 1971 - Vine street police station reopened. Vine street, Piccadilly, London's most famous per-war police station. was reopened today, 30 years after closing. It was closed in 1940 when West End Central police station, Saville row, was opened. The station will serve the sub-division bounded by Park Lane, Mount Street, Charring Cross Road and Pall Mall. After being closed as a police station, Vine Street reopened as the a Aliens Registration office and since 1965, housed a training center, firearms office, and from time, was a base for murder investigations. The face is unchanged but the accommodation inside is modern.
