Dec. 10, 1975 - December 10th, 1975 Police use red and green flags as safety precaution at the scene of the London siege - The London siege in which IRA gunmen are holding middle-aged man and his wife hostage in their flat in Balcombe Street, Marylebone, entered into its fifth day today. In the street below police have now adopted a semaphore language by using two flags, one red and the other green which are used for officers entering or leaving the siege building.
