Feb. 26 One of the sights of Macau is the ruin of St. Paul's Church where only the facade and steps remain. It was designed by Father Spinola and complete about 1637, the artisans being Japanese Christians, and it was considered a wonder of the time. Through called St. Paul's Church today, it was built as the Church of the Mother of God. Attached to the church there used to be a famous college and seminary from which hundreds of missionaries went forth into China and the Far East. When it caught fire in 1835, the flames spread to the church and it was destroyed. Today the steps are used as a short out by pedestrians to reach their homes on the other side of the hill
