Oct. 10, 1961 - High Award For Ferenc Fricsay: As reward for his great merit especially in the musical life of Berlin, the famous conductor Ferenc Fricsay - already today claimed to be a distinguished successor of Furtwangler - received the great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
