Filming of 10 Rillington Place, courtroom scene

Jun. 16, 1970 - The Filming of 10 Rillington place at Shepperton Studios: An exact replica of the No. 1 Courtroom at London's Central Criminal Court (The Old Bailey) has been built at Shepperton Studios for a film reconstruction of a trial that made English legal history. It was built for the film 10 Rillington Place, all about notorious English mass-murderer John Reginald Christie, who, in 1950, framed another man, Timothy John Evans, for crimes committed by Christie himself. In the film based on the book by Ludovic Kennedy, and directed by Richard Fleischer, Richard Attenborough plays the monstrous Christie, John Hurt plays Timothy Evans, and Andre Morell plays Mr. Justice Lewis, the judge who presided. Photo shows a scene from the film showing the exact replica of the No. 1 Courtroom as Christie (Richard Attenborough) in the box faces the judge, Mr. Justice Lewis (Andre Morell)
