Fire at Alexandra Palace, North London

Jul. 07, 1980 - Alexandra Palace Almost A Total Loss': Alexandra Palace, the entertainment and cultural Centre in North London, was declared almost a total loss last night as more than 200 firemen continued to fight a fire which swept the building, Councillor Robin Young, leader of Haringey Council which recently acquired the 105 year-old Ally Pally and launched an £8 million redevelopment programme, added There is damage to most parts'.
