First jazz school, Munich, West Germany

Feb. 29 West-Germany's first Jazz school installed in Munich: The first jazz school of west-Germany was opened by the well-known Munich jazz pianist Joe Haider. In 18-week courses (for all interested people, also for those without a musical educational background) talented musicians could be discovered and get a profound education. according to Joe Haider there is a great lack of jazz musicians here in Germany. Joe Haider, 38 years old, was leader of the jazz ensemble of the Bavarian broadcasting system, then went to Berlin where he joined the radio network Rias'. The musician, who has made six records, after that became a teacher at the Swiss jazz school in Bern, and worked at the workshop'.
