Mar. 03, 1961 - The First Orang Utan To Be Born At The London Zoo:No Orang Utan has ever been successfully reared in the british Isles, so the London Zoo are taking very special care of the new female baby born to Toli and Charlie last Sunday. The section in which they live in the Monkey House is cordoned off to give them seclusion for the first week or two. Seven-and-a-half- year old Toli came to London when she was a year old, and Charlie arrived when he was three. he was brought back by David Attenborough, brother of film star Richard, after a Zoo Quest expedition to Indonesia in 1956.
