Mar. 02 A Rare Event is expected at Chester Zoo: A very rare event is expected any time now at Chester Zoo, where the most valuable animals, a pair of Mountain Gorillas are expecting a happy event. Muskie the male, was separated as soon an Noelle's condition became obvious. this was no time to risk a rough and tumble. But as the happy couple had been together from babyhood when they came to Chester zoo back in 1960 from central Africa, the keepers took pity and gave them a spy hole in their party wall. It will and gave be the first mountain gorilla ever born in Britain and only the second born in captivity anywhere, and as there are only 14 of the animals in world zoos, the expected baby will be beyond price. Now that Noelle is nearing her time, she can't get close enough to peer through the hole, but Mukisl keeps watch, grunting his satisfaction, and like all expectant fathers, paces the floor in his impatience.
