Aug. 08, 1972 - First Flags officially hoisted at village.: For the first time, flags have been hoisted officially at the Olympic Village. On the 8th of August the first two flags of the 123 flags of the countries participating in the Munich Games were hoisted: Australia and Venezuela. After a two centuries old Bavarian march, members of the German Federal navy have hoisted the two flags and played their respective national anthem
