1977 - Inauguration Of The Bundesgartenschau In Stuttgart: For the third time after the war the Bundesgartenschau (Federal flower and garden exhibition) opened in Stuttgart on April 24th 1977 under the auspices of Federal President Walter School. The organisers intend to shows cheerful, colourful and blooming areas - the whole lot which is 1400 m long and 150 m wide is located between the main station and the river Necker has been planted with 4200 trees and 17 000 bushes. Not to mention the record number of half a million flower-bulbs as well as 6000 roses, 8000 lilies, 5000 begonias and 2000 square meters of dahlias and gladioli. Moreover, five new lakes have been created and 28 hectares of lawns as well been created and 28 hectares of lawns as well as recreation facilities have been prepared. The exhibition will be on until October 23rd and the organisers expect some 7 million visitors
