Nov. 11, 1953 - Exhibition Of Australian Antarctic Photographs: An Exhibition of Australian Antarctic photographs was opened at the Royal Geographical Society gallery, Kensington Gore, today, by the Acting Australian High Commissioner in London, Mr. Edwin McCarthy. Photo shows (L to R) : Mr. J.M. Wordie, C.B.E. the President of the Royal Geographical Society; Mr. Edwin McCarthy, and Sir Edmund Hillary, seen looking at one of the features at the exhibition - a sledge used in the Australian Antarctic Expedition - 1911-14. It was dragged by Sir Douglas Mawson for 31 days after the death of his two companions, Nymmis and Mertz
