Jun. 06, 1961 - THE LADY MAYOR AND THE ROSE OF LIDICE In London today for a most unusual ceremony was MADAME L. PROSKOVA, Mayor of Lidice. At the embassy of the Czech-Slovak Socialist Republic in Kensington Palace Gardens she was meeting the Lidice Small Live Committee. Highlight of the gathering was the naming of the Rose of Lidice specially cultivated by grower Harry Wheatcroft. The town of Lidice, near Prague, was annihilated on June 10, 1942 on Hitler's orders. Photo Shows Left to right Madame Galuska, Harry Wheatcroft, Mayor Proskova, Mayor of Lidice, and H.E. the Czecho-Slovak Ambassador M. Galuska after the ceremony
