Jan. 23, 1967 - Mrs. Hannedore Born, of the Sogetsu Academy in Tokyo, is Germany's first ikebana professor of the third degree. This high distinction is all the more considerable as the Mrs. Professor was never in Japan to learn the high art of flower arranging. Hannedore Born has been occupied with this art since 1960 and she has been a professor since 1965. The award of the third degree to Mrs. Born makes the German ikebana-school independent from Japan, because the students can conveniently take their knocks under Dr. Born!
