Nov. 11, 1971 - Eruption of the volcano in the Canary Islands.: A new volcano erupted last week on the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands. Up to data 26 craters have opened up, spitting fire into the sky. The first six craters which began the eruption are some 200 metres apart from each other and extend for about a kilometre. The other 20 are quite small, but every one is emitting lava and stones. The new volcano, which has been names Tenegufa, is right next to the old crater of San Antonio. So far 1, 500 people have been evacuated from the area
