Lord Thurso this afternoon performed the ceremony at the RAP Institute of Aviation Medicine - at Farnborough - of inaugurating the Man Carrying Centrifuge the most modern in Europe - and which cost £350, 000 to produce. It has a threefold purpose - research, clinical investigation and training. It consists of a rotating arm about 60 ft. long with cabins at either end - and capable of reaching 30 G (i.e. 30 times the force of gravity) - a speed of 115 mph.
