Flying Saucer hovercraft demonstration, Eastney
Jun. 06, 1959 - Britain's Flying Saucer takes part in airborne and seaborne landing demonstration: The Saunders Roe Hovercraft today took part in the three services demonstration Runaground X at Eastney, Portsmouth. The demonstration is designed to show Staff College students some of the problems of amphibious operations. The Hovercraft flew from Cowes, Isle of Wight, for the demonstration. Photo shows the Hovercraft leaving the water before coming to rest on the beach at Eastney today
