Aug. 08, 1959 - Street cries heard again in London. 18th-Century Tradition revived: Traditional street cries were heard again in London today, when a dozen attractive girls dressed in Regency costume, chanted street cries of the 18th century, as they gave away sausages, pies and other victuals to passers-by. Purpose of the occasion was to revive the old methods of selling sausages and meat pies which existed from Tudor times until the beginning of the last century.
