Jan. 09 Jean Monnet receives the first European movement prize at London Congress: The first award of the European Movement prize was presented today at the opening Plenary Session of the three-day Congress of Europe held at London's Guildhall. The European Movement prize will be awarded each year to an individual who has made a major contribution to the cause of European Unity. The first recipient of the award, presented today, is Monsieur Jean Monnet, frequently described as the father of Europe'. The prize taken the form of a Gold Standing Cup and cover. Jean Monnet, now in his 85 year, has been the recipient of more international awards in the cause of peace than any other individual.
