May 08, 1957 - FILMING THE EVACUATION OF DUNKIRK - AT CAMBER: Four thousand troops are taking part in the re-enaction of the famous Dunkirk evacuation, for the Ealing picture Dunkirk'. Since the northern coast of France is so built up as to be almost unrecognizable from the hell on earth that existed there in 1940, the beaches and sand dunes of Camber, near Rye, in Sussex, have been chosen for the scenes.
