Francois Mitterrand gives early press conference
Jun. 24, 1980 - Francois Mitterrand held a press conference today in Paris two days before the President did. On this occasion, the Socialist Party Secretary assessed the situation in France, hoping to oblige the President to comment on two specific points which worry the majority of French citizens. It's the first time since the beginning of the 5th Republic that an opposing leader broke with the tradition of commenting on the President's actions after he had already spoken with the press
