Feb 03, 1977 - Toulouse, France - (File Photo) FRANCOISE CLAUSTRE was a French archeologist who was taken hostage by a group of rebels on 20 April 1974, at Barda c, in the Tibesti Mountains of northern Chad. The rebels executed a French emissary who was sent to negotiate her release, and her husband was also captured by the rebels when he tried to intervene on her behalf. Libyan intervention finally led to their release, in Tripoli, on 1 February 1977.
